Everybody can Love Somebunny this Weekend!
From a Dakin Pioneer Valley Humane Society press release:
Join Dakin Pioneer Valley Humane Society in celebrating National Adopt-a-Rabbit month on Saturday, February 11 and Sunday, February 12 from 12 noon – 4 p.m. The Dakin adoption center in Springfield will be hosting an adoption event focused on helping homeless bunnies find new homes.
What makes bunnies such good pets? 1.) Bunnies are very social. Rabbits tend to become even more affectionate and companionable as they age and older rabbits are often content to spend the evening snuggling beside their person. 2.) Bunnies absolutely LOVE to play! It doesn't get much better in life than watching a rabbit play. They hide, run, jump and throw their toys in sheer joy. 3.) Bunnies are easily litter trained. 4.) Rabbits form close bonds with their human companions. People quickly realize that they can become very attached to their bunny too in the same way they do with a dog or cat. 5.) Bunnies are off the charts when it comes to cuteness! Who can resist the snuggly, calm and inquisitive Holland Lop or the cuter than a bug and softer than velvet Mini Rex?
In celebration of Love Somebunny weekend, rabbit adoption fees will be reduced by half (from $60 to $30). All adopted rabbits receive a veterinary exam, spay/neuter surgery, and a rabbit care handbook to help newly adopted bunnies hop off to a great start in their new home.
On February 11, bunny rescue organization House Rabbit Connection (HRC) will be on hand to help make adoption matches and share their extensive knowledge of rabbit behavior and care. Everyone is invited to come and interact with the bunnies and enjoy refreshments. And to find the perfect gift for your human Valentine, Diamonds in the Ruff Thrift Shoppe will be open throughout the event.
