Stop Violence Against Women Video Contest 2012

From a Northwestern District Attorney's office press release:

The Northwestern District Attorney's Domestic Violence Task Force is calling on students to create short music videos encouraging fellow students to take the White Ribbon Pledge "never to commit, condone or remain silent about violence against women."

The NWDA  joins Jane Doe, Inc. and organizations across the state in launching the 2012 White Ribbon Campaign, an international event established in 1989 after a gunman opened fire and killed 14 female engineering students in Montreal, Canada.

Last year, nine local high schools and two colleges in the Northwestern District of Hampshire and Franklin counties and the town of Athol held successful campaigns with over 1,000 students and staff taking the pledge to end violence against women.  A highlight was the short music video created by Granby High School students Shane O'Connor and Kyle Slate, which can be seen at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G5PJajgIpQU&lr=1&feature=mhee.

This year, one video from a high school and one from a college will be selected to receive $100 to be spent to advance violence prevention efforts with students.

All music videos will be played for the NWDA's Domestic Violence Task Force and posted on the NWDA's website and Facebook page.

Deadline for submission is February 17, 2012.
